Community of organ lovers, including students and others in the Harvard community, who study the organ, visit instruments, and host weekly and biweekly recitals.
About
The Harvard Organ Society welcomes all those who love the organ and its music. Members include Harvard undergraduates and graduate students along with others in the greater Harvard community. Many members actively study the organ at Harvard under the direction of Christian Lane, playing the 1929 Skinner Opus 793 and 2012 Fisk Opus 139 in Memorial Church, as well as the 1958 Flentrop in Adolphus Busch Hall.
What they do
- Study trip to Europe visiting and playing historic organs
- Canal boat cruise during the trip
- Visits to organs throughout the Boston area and New England
- Weekly organ class for students
- Masterclasses
- Weekly lunchtime recital series on Thursdays in Adolphus Busch Hall
- Biweekly concert series in Memorial Church on Tuesday evenings
- Study trip to Europe to play historic pipe organs
