Since its creation, ABHW has strived to strengthen the bonds of black sisterhood through community discussion, social events and public service.
Mission
To act as a catalyst in bringing Black women on Harvard University's campus together for academic, cultural, political and social purposes, and to address the needs and problems of black women at Harvard.

- ABHW Action Committee for activism, outreach and teach-ins
- Alberta V. Scott Leadership Academy mentorship program
- General meetings on the second and fourth Monday of each month with topic discussions
- Annual Graduate School Panel
- Freshmen Ladies' Night
- Road to Success annual career panel
- Annual cocktail event with the Black Men's Forum
- Fall retreat
